Near-death experience

Little did I know, I was close to death when I was at the age of 1 year plus. Hong Seng Estate was where I grew up with kampung houses on the hill. I was sitting on a potty doing my 'business' when a 7 foot long cobra slithered into the kitchen where I was...you know. My mum totally freaked out when she saw it and ran next-door to ask for help. So happened those who came were Indians. Snakes have a very important role in Indian mythologies and beliefs. The Indians attributed cobras to a leader or emperor and given a royal status. With that said, they refused to kill it.

Max barked at the snake, it glided by me and into my uncle's room. Another neighbour, thankfully a Chinese, who heard my mum screaming her lungs out "Snake! Snake!", came to the rescue with two bamboo sticks. It was killed in cold blood. Should the snake bite me, I would be dead....maybe it didn't bite me because I was born in the year of snake (according to Chinese calendar) and that made us....friends?
